School Meals
In January 2009, Aspens Services Ltd was awarded the contract to provide the catering service at Churchill Community Foundation School and 6th Form Centre.
We were delighted to be given the opportunity to work with the staff and pupils of such a friendly and welcoming school. Our aim is to constantly develop innovation and improve the service we provide to pupils and staff at the school.
Our philosophy on food is very simple – great food, freshly prepared and cooked, using fresh locally supplied ingredients.
Our local suppliers for the school are:-
Fresh Meat Alvis Bros
Cheese Alvis Bros
Fresh Fruit & Veg GS Cossey
Milk Dairy Crest - WSM
Fresh Bread Draycott Bakery
We have a strong commitment to do our bit in order to protect the environment. We have therefore sourced biodegradable packaging wherever possible for our grab & go items.
FOOD
Our food concepts have been implemented in the different outlets across the school:-
Recipes and flavours from around the world
Traditional Italian Stone-baked pizza, pasta and Jacket potatoes
Freshly made sandwiches, baguettes and self serve salad bar
A full café offer in the 6th Form centre – offering freshly ground, barista served fairtrade coffee, cold drinks plus hot and cold snacks
To increase the speed of service – we offer pre-packed homemade sandwiches, baguettes, rolls, salad pots, fruit pot – all ready to go.
MENUS
Our 4 weekly menus have been designed specifically for the school and are fully compliant with the Government’s food and nutritional guidelines. We use a nutritional software program called Nutmeg which analyses our menus to ensure that the recommended levels of such things as Iron, Sodium, and Fats etc are met.
NEW SUMMER TERM MENU – COMING SOON!!
Starting with Week One after the Easter Break.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS
The system for free school meals has remained the same, with all outlets offering a meal deal that covers the Free School Meal amount.
HEALTHY EATING
The health and well being of pupils and staff are our key concern – therefore we will create a healthy eating reward scheme that will promote the benefits of a balanced approach to eating and reward points for choosing the healthier options from our menus.
MARKETING
There will be a number of promotions and meal deals throughout each term that will offer great value for money. We will run occasional special theme days and link in to the school’s curriculum, bringing the classroom into the dining room, by producing meals and recipe ideas that have been developed by pupils in their Food Technology projects.
We will publish the calendar of events and our menus via the school’s newsletter, on this web page and on the Aspens website.
There will be a number of changes to the service in the next few months and we are very much looking forward to working closely with the School and the pupils in order to provide a catering service that exceeds expectations.
