Please see the letter below that is going home this week:

Cognitive Abilities Test (CATs)

As a school we continue to ensure that all our students make the very best progress in aiming for excellence at all levels.

Students who entered the school in Year 7 this year will take the Cognitive Abilities Test during the week beginning Monday 13th September 2010 in the LPod.  This does not require revision or preparation at home and will provide a baseline against which students’ performance can be measured.  The test consists of three parts, measuring verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and numerical tests.

This year tests will be completed online in a controlled environment and Year 7 students will be given the chance to do a small practice test prior to the official tests.  If you wish to view an example of these online please go to:

www.gl-assessment.co.uk/education/resources/cat3/demo.asp.

Tests will be sat by House on the following dates from Lessons 1-4 and students will return to their normal lessons sometime during lesson 4.  Break time may not coincide with the school break, so students should bring something with them to eat and drink; the school kitchens may not be available.

Monday 13 September:          Hanover House

Tuesday 14 September:          Stuart House

Wednesday 15 September:     Tudor House

Thursday 16 September:         Windsor House

Should you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Yours sincerely

Mr M Branch

Deputy Head

Certificates

The school is only expected to keep past exam certificates until a year after their issue - after this date we should return the certificates to the exam boards.  If you have not collected yours, please telephone 01934 854073 and speak to Mrs Lathbury to arrange collection. Certificates can only be collected in person unless the collector brings a letter of authority from the certificate holder.

If you have lost your certificates, you will need to contact the examination boards and the document below may help you to do this:
