About Us

Churchill Community School & Sixth Form Centre serves a mainly rural and dispersed local community from the villages of the west Mendips. In this local area - as well as in Weston - the school is rightly noted for its high levels of achievement, its high standards, its warm relationships, the behaviour of its students and its sense of purpose. Each student is valued here and we expect every one of them to do their best and become involved in the life of the school. At Churchill, we believe we make a difference in the lives of young people and we are determined that every student will have opportunities to fulfil their potential. We also have an enviable reputation for preparing our students for their next steps - into our Sixth Form, onto university or into the world of work and training.

Churchill is also a specialist school for the Performing Arts - founded on the high regard in which we are held for music and drama and our growing renown for dance - and a centre for performance, sharing not only our students but also our excellent facilities with many local partners. However, education today is fast moving and we strive to be at the forefront of educational developments - as a centre for teaching and learning, in our deployment of the latest technologies. Ours is a forward thinking and innovative school with a hard working Governing Body who act as partner and critical friend. But - we never forget the basics. At Churchill we sustain our traditions and uphold somewhat old-fashioned values: politeness and good manners; care and consideration for others; respect and tolerance; self-discipline and good behaviour.
